April 2014: Thousands of white flowers adorn this blackthorn [Prunus spinosa] (Schwarzdorn) three weeks earlier than last year, give food to bees and soon loose their petals that will fall to the ground like snowflakes. This is more than a biological and phenological event: it makes us pause and marvel at the power of seasonal changes and plant development and at the ingenious body plan of these wonderful flowers.
