February 2016: Common hazel [Corylus avellana] (Haselstrauch) The beginning of January was so spring-like that even on north-facing slopes the hazel came into bloom. This hazel was in full bloom (male and female) when in mid January we actually got some snow. The picture is typical for this mild January: plants start to develop and are surprised by some days with regular January weather.
