September 2018: Common beech [Fagus sylvatica] (Rotbuche): This beautiful tree was on the November frontpage in 2017, 2016 and 2014: In November the beeches normally start turning yellow. This year some of the leaves turned yellow at the end of August already. This must be the effect of our hot and dry summer! It seems that our beeches suffer from these new conditions and that in the long term they will be replaced by other species like oak. Also, this tree is very early with its beechnuts this year. This normally happens in October!
