July 2020: Common water frog [Rana kl. esculenta] (Teichfrosch): In March we had lots of spawn clumps (http://www.seasonsandbiomes.net/viewgallery.php?img=simb92003/920032003151.jpg) and in April hundreds or thousands of tadpoles. But not all of them survive, perhaps one hundred develop legs and less than 50 leave the water as tiny froglets. These days I discover repeatedly one of these animals who made it and who start to explore the vicinity. This one I rescued from drowning in the rain barrel.
