March 2021: Even in the lowlands we had a real snow blanket for severals days like in the old days this winter. But then the modern times took the reins again and we had temperatures up to almost +20°C during the time that traditionally was the coldest of the year - so we had 20 to 30°C (!) more than would have been seasonally typical. Therefore it's hardly surprising that in the forest the first spring flowers will open soon: This is the blossom bud of a wood anemone [Anemone nemorosa] (Buschwindröschen). It will take a few more unseasonally warm days and the first one will open. Have a look at Gallery2 > Front page > March 2019 to learn more about this herald of spring.
