April 2022: liverwort [Hepatica nobilis] (Leberblümchen): For the first time in my life I discovered a place where lots of really wild liverwort grow! Its leaves' shapes remember you of a liver. It is one of the earliest wild flowers of our forests, doesn't offer any nectar but pollen. Ants help to spread the plant (propagule) that can get very old. Its distribution on the northern hemisphere is erratic. Overall it is quite rare in Central Europe. It starts to flower with 4-7 years only and is a protected species in many countries.
