(Use the player) On the north slopes the ground was frozen and you can see tiny ice crystals that push up the top part of the soil. When I took this picture I became aware of a song thrush [Turdus philomelos] (Singdrossel) that was singing on a distant tree in the clearing - I can't remember having ever heard a song thrush in January. I thought they migrate...?
