2013-2014 compare: Arctic: This year we have less ice in the Siberian part of the Arctic Ocean but more around Svalbard. Snow cover is similar to 2013. Antarctica: Less ice at the northern end of the Antarctic Pininsula but similar in the other sectors - 2013 was already a new record maximum extent and 2014 will even be more (indistinguishable in these pictures).
