This graphic shows the sun's declination on January 1st. The sun has passed its minimum declination = winter solstice 10 days ago. During the next half year the declination will increase until it will reach its maximum on June 21st 2015 at 16.38 UTC = summer solstice. In the northern (southern) hemisphere the next 2 weeks will still be the time with the minimal (maximal) input of solar energy. As the Earth's systems have a response time of 1-2 months regarding cooling down / heating up (with many disturbing factors) we wonder how the heat distribution will be during the next two months of polarity (warm southern / cool northern hemisphere).
