World Wide Snow and Ice Cover Map: January 25th, 2015: Much less sea ice around Antarctica as expected. South America and New Zealand: no obvious difference. But unexpected changes in the north: North America: much less snow in the Rocky Mountains up to Canada. The sea ice advances south from Alaska to eastern Siberia and between northern Canada and Greenland. Less snow in Scandinavia and most parts of Europe. The snow line has slightly moved southward only in central Asia. More snow only east of the Great Lakes, in parts of Turkey and in the Himalaya region. More sea ice east of the Kola peninsula, less around Svalbard.
