Glacier de la Plaine Morte (Switzerland's biggest plateau glacier): If you walk on this plateau glacier you consider yourself to be in a polar region! We experienced more than 30°C down in the valley (Valais), but up here everybody put on at least one jacket because it was surprisingly cold on the glacier in spite of an unusual warm late summer day.
