As you can see, all
of the leaves have fallen. The last few came down about a week ago in a
rain squall that blasted through one evening. There were reports of thunder
and lightning in some parts of Fairbanks, which I think is the latest ever
recorded for this kind of weather. The temperature at the time I took the
photos, at about 1:00 pm, was 5 C, which is quite a bit warmer than we had
been seeing during earlier in the week. By the end of the day, the
barometer had dropped a little and the sky had clouded up. The prediction
is for some light rain today. On Sunday we woke to a dusting of snow on the
ground but it did not last past 11 am or so, when it had completely melted.
The sun rose yesterday, 3 Oct at 8:08 am and set at 7:15 pm for a total
number of daylight hours of 11 hours and 7 minutes. Solar noon was at 1:41
pm.
