April is here and suddenly we are enjoying warmer temperatures and plenty of sunlight. Since Friday, high daily temperatures have averaged around 7C and night time temperatures around - 3C. The accumulated snow from the winter has been sliding off our roof and the driveway is starting to melt and turn from packed snow to ice and running water.
The depth of the snow pack is 486 mm (and decreasing every day!). The temperature when I took this photo, at noon (12 pm, not solar noon, which will be at 1:55 pm) , was 4.4C.
The sun rose this morning at 7:02 am and will set at 8:49 pm for a total length of daylight as 13 hours 47 minutes. This is an increase of almost 3.5 hours of daylight since this time last month.
