We had the warmest December on record although our records only go back 50 years or so. My picture is from January 4, 2016 when it was still mostly warm out. We had a week of more average weather with temps near 0 C. The change to winter happened this morning. We received about 5 cm of snow, the wind is blowing strongly and it is getting colder, down to -4 C right now. We are expected to have below average temperatures for the next week or two. I wasn't sure if I would make an ice rink in the back yard this winter because of the warm winter due to El Nino. But, Since the cold has come, I made it. The ice should be skateable this week.
