At the end of January the temperature suddenly
dropped and now we have had very cold weather for several weeks already,
the same in other parts of Europe I guess. Estonia is small but we have
two different types of climate: maritime in the west and continental in
the east. We usually get the lowest temperatures here in Võrumaa. The
whole week (almost two weeks) was below -25, often below -30 and the
school children were allowed to stay at home. But the Sun has power now
and it's still light at 5 pm although the nature is sleeping under 20 cms
of snow. Today I enjoyed a lovely sunny weather with only -12 in the
daytime and some birds could be heard already. It's coming, the spring,
the most beautiful time of the year.
