The first picture is a
close-up of a barrel cactus that is at the foot of the ocotillo. They yellow
pineapple looking things are fruit that form from the flowers. When you break
them open they are kind of gooey and have little black seeds. I don't know of any
people that use them, since they do not taste good. The prickly pear fruit that
are red are used in jams and syrups. The barrel fruit is eaten by animals.
