Here is a photo taken by a student at Christensen Middle School in
Livermore, California, United States of America. We can be found on
Google street maps. Our school is in a suburban area, and houses are
around us. This view was chosen because it is close to school so
student can take photos during class time, and shows a deciduous tree
and the native grasses.
Livermore is at 37.68N and -121. 766W.
We are about 70 km east of San Francisco. Our Mediterranean climate
gives us rain in the winter and hot, dry summers. We have not had a
significant rain since March of this year, so the grass in the hills
is dry and brown. That is why California is called the "Golden
State'. This also can make for a high risk of wildfires.
